Turning a Steak Into a Smash Burger – Once For All Meat Slicer Review

Ever wanted to turn a steak into a juicy smash burger? I did just that with the help of the Once For All meat slicer — and it was a game changer.

The folks over at Once For All were kind enough to send me their slicer to check out. When I first laid eyes on it, I thought, “Heck yeah, let’s give this thing a spin.” What follows is my full hands-on review, including setup, slicing tests, cooking up a killer smash burger, and cleaning it afterward.

???? Unboxing & Setup

Inside the box, the slicer came fully loaded with features:

  • Multiple blade settings (2mm, 4mm, and grind-style)
  • A pair of handy cleaning brushes
  • User manual with slicing tips
  • Easy-to-assemble base and cutting platform

The unit is clearly labeled for safe setup — including a “Do Not Hold the Base” warning — and within minutes, I had it fully put together and ready to slice some chuck eye steak.

???? Testing the Slicer: Thin & Thick Cuts

I started with the 2mm blade, slicing up a beautiful chuck eye steak. The cuts came out clean and thin — perfect for things like Philly cheesesteaks or carne asada. The meat sliced smoothly, and the slicer felt stable the whole time.

Next, I swapped in the 4mm blade for some thicker cuts. This was even easier to work with. I thought, “Man, this thing glides through like butter.” Thicker slices like these are ideal for beef jerky, fajitas, or prepping for ground meat dishes.

???? Smash Burger Time: Ground Steak Goodness

Now for the real reason I wanted this slicer — smash steak burgers.

I ran the chuck eye through again, rotating and slicing until I had a coarse ground steak pile. This wasn’t store-bought ground beef. This was steak — and you could see and taste the difference.

Onto the griddle it went, preheated to 300°F. No oil needed. I smashed the steak down and seasoned it with Boars Night Owl White Lightning Rub. The fat content in the chuck eye caramelized beautifully. It looked and tasted incredible.

You could use this same method for chicken or pork too — the slicer doesn’t care what meat you throw at it.

???? Cleanup & Dishwasher-Safe Perks

Once the cooking was done, cleanup was surprisingly easy. I popped the blades out, grabbed the included brushes, and ran them through the grooves to remove any leftover meat bits.

Best part? The slicer parts are dishwasher safe. Just place everything in, let it run, and store the blades in the protective holder afterward. No stress, no cuts.

???? Final Thoughts

The Once For All meat slicer is now officially part of my regular kitchen and outdoor cooking setup. Whether you’re:

  • Prepping meat for jerky or tacos
  • Slicing steak for fajitas
  • Grinding your own burger meat

…it handles it all, and it’s easy to clean when you’re done.

If you’re interested, you can check it out on Amazon. I’ll definitely be featuring it again in upcoming videos — including some chicken test runs next.

Thanks again to Once For All for sending this out, and to y’all for reading and watching. Catch you on the next cook!
